Exploring Poché: Unveiling Hidden Architectural Spaces
This studio explores the concept of poché, traditionally used in architecture to denote hidden areas. It delves into the ideas of concealment, discontinuity, and masking inherent in poché through speculative and theoretical analysis. The focus extends to the scarred landscapes of mines and quarries, examining how architecture can engage these gaps to create alternative possibilities for inhabitation. By reimagining spaces from concert halls to data centers, the studio investigates how poché can enhance established trajectories and transform environments, creating new experiences and mnemonic cues in space, and uncovering the hidden intricacies embedded within architectural spaces.
